It is the most important place of religious pilgrimage in Montenegro. Situated in the rock near Niksic overlooking the Bjelopavlic Plain. Founded by bishop Vasilije of Herzegovina in 17th century. He was buried here and proclaimed a saint and miracle-worker. His relics rest in the Upper monastery cave church. At the place where he died grape vine has cropped up although there were no natural and climate conditions. It is believed to have healing powers. Notes in monastery books and in hearts of believers testify about many healings. |
